Can anyone ID this guy for me? This is the one I said was coming in at the same time as the toadfish, but no toadfish came in.

Similar for sure. It is still acclimating to temp and wont let me get a good pic right now. Hopefully once it is in the tank I can. Best I can say right now is from body out...orange, yellow, orange and black coloration. I know pics would be better.

One of the common names for S. diabolus is "false stonefish", hence the "stonefish" moniker. Nice-looking fish...how big is it?

Here's ours (at least it was sold as a Scorpaena diabolus, but I'm not so sure it's not Scorpaenodes macrochir...

I would guess at around 4 inches currently. It resembles all the others you guys have posted and from researching them. Lfs actually let me see the order form and I saw this listed as a small stonefish and told him to get it for me.

That's cool that your LFS guy lets you see the wholesaler's list.

What makes me think "macrochir" for our fish is the lack of interorbital papillae and nodules, and if you look at our fish's mouth, right behind where its teeth are located, you can see what appears to be the telltale black marking. This black marking supposedly looks triangular if you can actually see it, but I haven't seen this cuz the little sucker won't say "AHHHHHH". That being said, its "hump" is pretty prominant, which suggests diabolus, but I'm still holding out for "macrochir".

I think these are actually better looking than stonefish, and, I'd expect, safer!
