stopping canister question

Hey guys,

Due to Nitrate reasons, I'm looking to stop using my canister filter on my 50g reef. Inside currently is the original stock of filter pads, these ?stone? tubes, and carbon.
My question: If I just remove the canister, will I potentially start a mini-cycle?
Reason being I am removing the bacterial inside...

Although I do have a 1.5in crushed coral sandbed, 60 pounds of rock, and a skimmer.... would that be enough filtration?

I don't think it would cause an issue to pull the canister.

Also the crushed coral can be contributing to the nitrates as well. The crushed coral tends to hold detritus. good luck.

As long as your skimmer is sufficient for your tank, I would think pulling the canister would be a positive move.
