Just my thread of my "good" encounters with happy owners and quality livestock.

Exoitc Aquariums - Tom - Great guy, extremely honest, quality pieces. Lots of larger pieces. Highly recommended.

Sea in the City - Marcey (Hope I spelled it right) and Jessica were extremely helpful and honest people. They have a beautiful store, and have a quality stock of larger and smaller peices.

SITC also has the FINEST live rock in town. If you're looking for a particular peice, they may have it. Found a few larger "shelf" pieces with tons of "purple" on them. Not for my small tank, but would fit nicely in anything 29gal+. Prices are extremely fair, and the quality of the rock is A++ quality.

Pictures of my "setup". I have NO idea how to take decent pictures of a tank. Anyone have any ideas? I have a basic $100 camera.

And my tank: (crappy picture) And yes the inside of my glass is dirty. Water is pretty clear. Still settling from setting the rock.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for moving the rock around, I'm open to listening. I think I have enough in the main tank, maybe a tiny bit too much, but I'm still looking for "broken" pieces (aka rubble) for the little sump on the back.

ANY ideas how to clean the inside of the glass? Looks like fingerprints or something...

just use a rag or handtowel to wipe it down(my wife loves that). or you could a sponge for aquarium use, or filter floss in a clump. Or your hand.

Thanks. Fixed the "problem". I just wasn't sure what was safe to use. Just used a very, very soft hand towel.

Exactly how much is "extremely fair" on the live rock? Looks nice!

For the quality of the rock, and the pieces they have, I think it was $7/lb. I grabbed about 10lbs or so. Most would consider that a little pricey, for "store stuff", but it was worth every single penny.

Considering most shops sell it for $4.99+ lb, this stuff is A- to A quality rock (75% coraline or better, per piece). Some of the best you will find, I know, because I went to almost every "ORCA" store, looking for some.

Well worth the drive for me.

But it wasn't so much about the price of the rock, it was the relationship I created with Sea in the City.

Why I said "fair" is because:

1) I had a few offers to pick up established LR for cheaper, but was double the distance to Sea in the City, so it would have been a wash in price, since I was spending 2x the gas (V8 engine in my car).

2) It's the best "store stocked" LR in town. That I can nearly guarantee. I certainly haven't found anything near this quality locally. The rock isn't too light like Tonga branch, and isn't as dense at TBS rock. It's porous and dense. Right in the middle.

If you're interested, I'd stop down there asap. They have nice medium sized pieces, and a few "show" pieces as well. Extremely fresh, cured rock. Again, I cannot comment on how nice and fresh the rock is. It was a pleasure speaking with Marcey and Jessica. I highly recommend you give them a try. Extremely nice people.

Anyways, I was completely satisfied with my purchase. To me, like I mentioned it was more than just "buying LR", it was the relationship I created.
