Storytime again for us fish nerds... Southern Japan and Guam dive/fish trip 2012 :)

John, do you have a specific plan to keep aggressiveness down between the chrysiptera damsels and other fish? Or are you just planning on not having many other fish?

Also, which damsels do you feel will be compatible together? If they will legitimately get along long term this could be a great way to add a lot of color and activity to my current build.

Killer system Copps!
Very pro!

Nice UV sterilizer...I cannot see how your water flow dynamics work from the pictures but I was wondering how much of the water you like to pass through the UV? Do you run the entire return water volume through it or maybe it runs on a loop back to the sump?
just wondering...thanks!

Holy goodness, cant wait to hear about dosing schedule...jk.
But I do want to see the Ca reactors.

All of the corals are in the new system... my old system was packed as you all know and the 1300 looks empty! Lots of room to grow... and no new corals until I get my coral QT systems up and running, so for now I'll just let things go... I've been dosing 3/4 cup of each part of B-Ionic, and have my giant reactor with a trickle going through... I think I loaded it up with about sixty pounds of media to start... here's a shot when I picked it up from Avast... as with all their work it is sweet... with a recirc loop for the CO2...

People group all damsels together just like they do tangs... I've stuck with just Chrysiptera and all species that stay small... they could care less about all of the other families of fish... they squabble amongst themselves which is pretty neat... and it's amazing the different behaviors between the different species I have within the genus.

Thanks... I will eventually have a build thread when the dust settles... this is the busiest I've been in my life... getting this system going and moving my hundreds of corals and fish... but to answer your question I have three RLSS 12000 return pumps from my sump... one of these handles flow to my two frag/ off display tanks, the refugium, and anemone tank... the other two are redundant returns to the 1300... each of these goes through it's own 3 HP chiller/heaters and to a 1 1/2" Sea-Swirl. One of these also goes through the UV. Each return pump gets me about 1200 GPH, which is fine... again most of my flow in the tank is from six MP60s.

I feel like a little kid sitting on the floor looking up to grandpa for story time…

Awesome pictures, great storytelling… Thanks so much for sharing John.

Was that a photo shoot for a new Avast catalog? White on white on white, with a touch of baby blue ;)

Glad to hear everything has been moved, Phase 93 complete.

Wow... That's one awesome thread!! Thanks for sharing the stories & your build is quite an inspiration! I've always dreamt of having a huge tank in my house...not sure if I can make my dream a reality but happy to see others live through their dream...

This is amazing! Your tanks, the trip, everything!!! I am a novice, and wanted to know in post #140, what is that deep red fish on the right-hand side of your tank? Also how is it keeping an emp in a reef tank?

Man you are killing me with no new display or system pics. Any chance we could get a few more shots?! Please!

My apologies... saying I've been busy is an understatement! Again I'll soon have a build thread... rather empty tank coral wise as I've not added anything new as I still have yet to set up my separate coral QT system... the fish count is growing... I've not ironed out coral placement... the corals are still where I put them months ago and I need to reaquascape some of these... forgive me but this is where I'm at so far...

Thanks... that fish is a TRUE Hawaiian flame angel female... for every true Hawaiian flame there are literally thousands of flames from Christmas and the Marshall's that go into the trade... true Hawaiian flames are known for their deep red and relative lack of black barring... especially the females.

There is no angel I wouldn't put in my sps reef... with all of the exotic angels I've owned through the years, nothing says tropical SPS reef like a pair of emps... I've decided to put the emp I collected in Guam in one of my smaller systems and my Christmas Island emp pair I put together over six years ago ago in the 1300... the male is a stud and even though I didn't collect him he's grown on me and will go in the big reef with his mate this weekend.
