Strange algae/sponge/bacteria

It's some type of algae, sponge, or bacteria colony. People are having a hard time IDing this for me. My tank is exactly 8 weeks old, and this formed somewhere between weeks 4 and 5. It's only on one piece of rock, and there are only two outcroppings. It's like a brown fuzzy 1/16-1/8 inch nap carpet with clear bubbles in it- (almost looks like a cold soar). The colony has only spread less than 1/4 inch(if that) in the last 3 weeks. The "bubbles" seem rather regular in shape.

it looks like fungus to me. I would take the rock out and dip it. See dip instructions under mucho reef.
