So I buy an apex. Hook it up and fill my tank. I have the heater outlet set to turn off at 78.2 and to turn on at 77.9 or lower with a 2 minute differential.
Works fine. Looking at my graph, it turns on and off fairly consistantly.
i noticed when I put my hand in the tank it seemed a bit warm. I grabbed my kids research thermometer and one of my glass tank thermometers and both read 80.5 degrees. OK need to calibrate. after I calibrate it (You can see on the graph where it jumps up to 80 degrees...) no problem...except a slow rise in temp...
when it thought it was 78 the temp of the tank when up and down. when it went do below 78 about once an hour the heaters turn on...
Now that I calibrated it, the temp has never gone down and the heaters have not turned on.
Not sure why the apex thought my tank was cooling down once an hour. If the heaters were being turned on and the tank was not actually cooling down then the temp would be going up. However the jager heaters are set for 78.5.... those are obviously off as well.
I wonder why my temp is not dropping once an hour any more. It is fall, the room is cool, I have the lights off and only my return and circ pumps are running (as they were before caliobration)
as the apex has gone from 80.1 to 80.6 my glass thermometers will not show that. But why no cool down?
