I have a round area of coraline algae on my glass that has changed color to Red and has some white slimy stuff attached to it. Anybody know what it is?

It looks like whatever it is, it is eating your coralline? I've noticed a few ring of coralline in several spots. Did you try to scrape the glass before these pics? Maybe it's dying off?

any changes lately? water params?

When it changes color it's most likely your lighting. Did you change any lights? How old are your current lights? They may be going bad. It does look like some of it is dying. Did you add a urchin by chance? IMO, I think it's most likely your lighting.

no scraping, its on the back part and only in that area.
My bulbs are about 6 months old and current says I should get 10 months out of them.

I did pickup a urchin on a piece of rock I purchased about a week ago but he's pretty small, maybe 1/2 inch in area.

Water is ok. My parameters don't change much.
Other than adding some rock here and there I don't change much in there.

I did add a new seio 800 to the right side of my tank and it gives more flow to a 4 headed flame. The angle that the water hits the flame behind it is the red circle which is about the size of the flame.

Guessing some chemical reaction happening due to the increased flow. Its not that much and the flame was really opening up with the increased flow.

Do you think I should move the flame back a little out of the flow or leave it be?

Mexican Turbo snails will also eat coralline algae. They scrape it right off the rocks, yum yum!

WOW - I never knew that.

I'm almost positive that its from the flame due to the increased flow and the xenia near by.

Moved the flame to the left about 6 inches. See what happens.
