Strange Critter

Not sure if this actually belongs in this section or not, but what I've just noticed growing in my tank is definately not a coral, nor is it aiptasia.

Heres the description (sorry, kids, no pix!): A root-like structure (fine, randomly branching) attached to the glass. At various spots along this structure can be seen some sort of cnidarian. The body is maybe 1/16 to 1/8 an inch long, and the tentacles are much longer, maybe 3-4 times longer. I just noticed it last night, so who knows how long it's been there. There are only a few of the critters, and they seem widely spaced, although they are all growing from the same structure.

I hope this makes sense. Any info anybody has would be greatly appreciated.

What about hydroids (God forbid) or even the beginnings of an Erythropodium colony?

It could be hydroids, but check this hitch hiker site out, I happen to be very fond of it...lol

Few hydroids merit the "God forbid" prayer. Many are innocuous.

hmmm...checked the link out...One thing that looked fairly similar was one of the jellyfish polyps...sort of. I'll just keep an eye on it and see what develops.
