Strange Fairy Wrasse behavior?

I was visiting my friends house and he has a super male lineatus and a mystery wrasse. From time to time each wrasse stops swimming and then curls it body into a "C" shape trying to look at its tail? The lineatus does this more so than the mystery.

Anyone have any idea why they are doing this or experienced this?

I've seen this mostly from my female/juvenile McCosker wrasses when there's a male around, so I assumed it was sort of a show of submission, but I really have no clue what it means. I would like to hear other thoughts on this as well.

i seen a few of mine do that before....never thought much about it though
