strange growths

It has been over a year since I've added any new rocks or corals to my 90 gallon reef. Last week I noticed some strange algae grownig on a zoanthid rock that I've had for almost 3 years. looks a lot like "Halimeda Sp." (never had any in my tank untill now) I think I've figured out what has spawned the growth of the new algae. A couple months ago one of my engineer goby's dug too much out under a large rock & it killed him. Needless to say I didn't notice him missing untill a week or so later when I had a brutal amonia spike. Shortly after I got things back under control I noticed Cheato growing off of a small rock (which hasn't been in my tank for over 8 months) & the caulerpa in my refuge really took off in growth too. If I didn't have 2 tangs in my tank I think I might see more types that I didn't know I had. I posted this just because I thought the dormant state of these algae was worth bringing up. Sometimes you never know what you have be it a hitch hiker on rock or a parasite that reeks havok. At least not all is bad.
