Strange occurrence...

So, I have a strange issue that makes no sense to me... I'll start with the basics...

40g aquarium - 2 T.R. Ocellaris Clowns - 1 Starry Blenny - 1 Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse. I added them in that order 4-6 weeks apart. I half expected some aggression from the clowns toward the wrasse if it came near their "turf," but I'm getting the exact opposite. The wrasse is now picking on my clowns! It's like a bad episode of Benny Hill, the wrasse comes over and starts spreading it's fins, and poking (biting?) at a clown until it chases him, then they swim in a whirlwind of circles until the wrasse decides to go hide.

Has anyone ever seen fairy wrasse aggression before? It's not food aggression (if that's a thing) because I feed them daily, and I sit there feeding slowly until they stop showing interest in food, and even then, they seem to get along during feedings.

You just may have a PITA!! Now I have seen in some cases, if the wrasse is the dominant one in the tank it will show aggression to keep that dominance.

Capture the wrasse and get rid of it. The picking probably won't get better and you'll just end up with several stressed/unhealthy/unhappy fish. Lots of appropriate wrasses to chose from. Good luck!

Well, it was the wrasse I found with the smallest adult size, that was reef safe. I'm not in the habit of trying to catch fish, but if it goes in my trap, I'll take him to the LFS. Otherwise, I'll be bringing home an anemone, hoping the clowns take an interest, so they will have a safe space.
