I have a 194g system/175g display reef tank. I recently discovered ich on a powder blue tang. The cysts cleared up quickly and the fishes overall health is good (good appetite, good activity, etc).
Since I have a reef with SPS & LPS, treating in the tank is out. My questions are as follows:
1. I have not had a fish die in more than two years. Water quality is excellent. Am I better off acknowledging there is ich in the tank, hoping the fishes' resistance against ich is good, and leaving everything alone until there is a reason to take the tank down or should I pull the fish out, try to wait out the ich life cycle with no host, and put the fish in a hypo salinity quarantine/med tank?
2. How do I introduce fish into a hypo salinity tank?
3. If I have 12 fish, can I QT them in one 26g tank, or should I separate them into two 30g tubs?
My vast preference would be to hold off until there was a reason to pull the fish out. However, if having ich means I should take drastic steps with an otherwise seemingly healthy group of fish, I will.
Thanks in advance.
