Strawberry shortcake placement

It sure looks very similar, but it is really hard to say what it will look like after coloring up. My dfs shortcake is more yellow than green, while this one is definitely green. Both have pink tips and both are a.microclados. Lots of variations out there of a strawberry shortcake. Some variations aren't even a. microclados.

Mine is more light yellow with pink tips. For the past 6 months, it has been 14 inches under an AP700 maxed out at 80% for a few hrs. Oddly enough, it has grown substantially only in encrusting form.

It encrusted the plug completely, then proceeded to encrust another 2 sq inches on the rock below it. The color is as vibrant as it has been, just no vertical growth out of the 3 branches.

Im assuming this means my light is too strong?

That is how my dfs strawberry shortcake was growing. In my old tank it ended up encrusting about a 6X6 inch area and never shot up anything vertical. It looked like an encrusting monti, lol. When I transferred everything to this tank, I cut off the encrusted area with a roto-zip. I ended up with 2 pieces 3X6 inches that were encrusted on the rock, with one piece containing the original frag plug. Now those pieces are shooting numerous vertical branches with very little encrusting. Coral has always been at the top directly under the leds. Who knows what triggered the vertical growth.

If there's a chance it turns into looking like that (it's already beginning to get green patches) I'll be ok. Especially since I grabbed this mini colony for really cheap not having any idea what it was. I just wanted an SPS to make sure I could keep em alive.
