Took a short trip to UC last month to pick up one of there cherry mint frags and left with four other corals+the cherry mint. Didn't get a short cake but they where stunning.
Vince & Ed where extremely helpful and knowledgeable you won't be disappointed

That's good to hear. Now I'm even more excited! They had a sweet deal on them buy 2 get one free. So they came out to about $45 apiece. So me and another local split he takes one I take one for the display and hold the other for him as a back up.

So medium to low light on the SS? Weird WWC and Fosters told me put it up high. I agree it will love a lot of flow. Dvanacker where was that colony in your buddies tank? It looks like he has it in the correct lighting.

I bought mine at WWC, and didn't ask on placement...it has held/improved color since buying it at exactly middle of tank under 10 t5's...they just got some a few months ago, it hasn't been farmed by them

For what its worth they had a reverse strawberry shortcake that they were selling for $80 a frag, but I don't know if theres any left-it was nice but I was without coral funds at the time

that is insane! looks like its taken under heavy actinics but i dont care its still a super nice coral! and have always been told high flow on the ssc as well.

Also how sensative is this piece to dips? I don't have a QT tank but always dip with coralrx and inspect before I put it in my tank.

My peice is very sensitive to everything, and "drops" its color if anything gets slightly off. On the other hand it has been a fast grower for me. Keep it mid to lower tank depending on the lighting. The higher light the more yellow the base turns as opposed to the green, though actual SSC is yellow and strawberry? Mine is probably too high, it is has turned yellow with pink/red tips, hard to move after it encrsuted so much.

There are aquacultured ssc out there
it's been in the us for a while now
can't name names but there is a California wholeseller/farmer
growing it for awhile now

I don't have the name either but there are
3 generation SSC of the wild ones, Ali in Anaheim has some and are the nicest ones in socal, which reminds me I need to get my arse over there.
