I set up a rubbermaid tank and let it run for 6 months. Then I added a bubble tip anemone and within two days it expelled its zooanthellae and slowly died. The only thing I could find different about that tank than my other ones is one pump shocked me when I touched the water (a pretty good shock). Could that be enough to kill an anemone? I've never had trouble with any other tank so I'm kinda at a loss to understand. Any thoughts?
Stray voltage kill an anemone?

I lost a green BTA from that. It took it a while to die (about a month), but there was a noticeable side effect. It took me a while to track down that my new heater was giving off stray voltage.
lets say its a power head and you got 4. you unplug each but 1 at a time-your tester will tell you when it stops getting a reading. the one you pull that stops the reading is the bad guy
Use a multimeter or volt meter and start unplugging stuff.
okay cool thank you for the response's however I think I figured it out yesterday when I got home from work.
When I got home my return pump had crapped out on me and my DT was about 5-6" low. I ran out to the store and bought me a Danner Mag-Drive 5. When I got home I switched the pumps out only to realize that the wire to the pump had been seperating from the pump itself.
My test theory: A few days in a row I have been doing work in the tank (aquascaping, feeding, and adding some CUC), while I had no shoes on I realized I was getting a little zip from the water. With shoes I would not feel it. Well after I changed out pumps I tested my theory and with shoes, nothing. Without shoes nothing, I was kinda expecting something but I didn't feel anything.
