Stream 6100

I am running two 6100's on a controller inside a 300 gallon using the magnet holders on the glass.

When I turn them off using the feeding button on the contoller, one of them clicks fairly loudly for a half hour and sharply jolts upwards when it starts back up after ~7 minutes.

After the clicking stops, it still jolts on the holder, just not as badly that it makes the clicking noise.

I'm not concerned that it will jump off the holder but I am concerned that it will eventually mess it up.

I have taken it out and taken it all apart and cleaned it. Nothing looks worn or broken.

Suggestions?

I am also looking at the Tunze Wave Box for my 125 gallon... Is that overkill and how much space does it take up?

Thanks for your feedback.

Does it have the old style drive unit or the new style?

It is a box measuring roughly 5" square and 11" deep. It isn't overkill, you do generally need at least one Stream though to add a directional flow to the tank.

New Style...? Old Style...? How do I tell? It is "Box Shaped" and not round... Does that help?

My overflow is back center on my 125 gallon... Could I mount it along side of the overflow facing towards the front of the tank so not to be so visible?

I don't have an issue leaving one or both of ny current Tunze's in the tank.

Thanks for your response.

There is a stickied thread on top of this forum on alarms and pump cleanings that shows the difference. The new one is one piece and the shaft is grey, the old one is many pieces and the shaft is white.

The Wavebox has to have a clear shot down the length of the tank to work properly.

I will follow the directions in your sticky thread and clean all four of my Tunzes out.

I guess I have another question after reading the thread...

Is there are prefered way to set up two 6100's on a controller to get the maximum benefits?

I currently have them set up on two different channels running maximum/minimum opposite of each other. The Tunzes are set up on opposite ends of my tank - one on the front corner and the other on the back to shoot the current across my rock face on front and back. I also have the light sensor that slows down the pumps at night.

Should I be looking to change my set up or controller settings?

The settings are largely personal preference. The pumps go longer between cleanings if they are not switched off in the normal program, so Interval 2 or Pulse will extend the life between cleaning.
