Stream advice for 125G

Hi,

I'm looking at upgrading the PH's in one of my tanks to Stream 6060's.

Tank AGA 125G (Std 6 foot plastic rimmed US spec tank)
Southdown SSB / mixed reef / LR mound in middle of tank
with no LR at either end - just sand bed. SPS at top / mid level.
LPS mid / low and softies mixed at all levels.

Current PH's in tank 2 SEIO 820 (820 gph)
3 MJ1200 (295 gph)
Total Aprox 2525 gph

Thinking about replacing with
2 Stream 6060 (1600 gph)

The 3 MJ's are currently running on a Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper controller with 8 min cycles. My questions.

1. Would the two 6060's be sufficient for my tank - I don't need gobs of flow - too much would damage all the LPS I have in my tank. I'm more concerned with dead spots, than really high flow.
2. Would I need to buy 3000.244 (two of them) to mount the Streams on my tank?
3. Would I get fewer dead spots if I ran the Streams on a 1 or 2 hour alternating cycle on my reefkeeper controller?
4. I plan on mounted in the back corner and angle them towards the front middle of the tank - for hopefully optimal coverage.
5. Would I end up digging out the sandbed due to the current where both PH streams meet (middle of tank / front glass)?

I know that the electronic Streams are better but I don't want to spend the $$ and feel I might be able to be ok with 6060's.

Thanks,
-Mike

1. The flow pattern of these pumps is a 4 by 2ft column. You might have sand bed issues but I don't think the flow would be too much.
2. Those now come with the pumps.
3. Yes but the cycles should overlap 50% most likely.
4. Sounds fine, the DSB is an issue however especially with how short a 125 is. You may have to position them on the ends centered and move some rock around.
5. The flow pattern is wider than your tank so it will get channeled downward and likely move the sand.

In all honesty the ideal for your tank would be one 7400/2 with a single or multicontroller- doesn't matter too much in this case, and a Wavebox. This would prevent your sand bed issues and really give you no dead spots and the zonation of flow you need, but yes it will cost quite a bit more. If it was me I would rather slowly piece together a really nice set than buy a so so set only to regret it or want to upgrade.
