stream rock details

I am upgrading my tank and was thinking of using stream rocks instead of the manual mount or magnet mounts. How do the streams fit into the rock? How severely does it effect flow or cleaning?
The streams seem to work optimally when given a clear space to "suck" from.

The front of the outlet slides into a metric PVC coupling. The flow is unaffected as the rock has arching legs to let flow in. Cleaning isn't too bad provided you make it the top rock on the structure.
