Stream vibration

Hey Roger

How much noise and vibration should I get from my 6000/7091?
So far its been in the tank for almost two months, and no reduction in noise/viration. The vibration can easly be felt any where on the tank or the stand, and when on the low cycle it makes my Tek-light rattle. When I take the light of the tank, it sounds like a small plane is circling my home. I've cleaned it 3 times and no change. I did notice alot of play between the bearing bush and upper bearing, I don't know if this is normal or not?
Except for the noise/vibration I'm very impressed with the stream and controller, fantastic product. I just don't want to have to hear it. Any suggestions?

In general I can hear them about 6"-1ft away from the tank, more when they move slow. They do vibrate a bit. It sounds like it is more the vbration being trasmitted and making the other equipment noisy. I could only suggest using the rubber vibration dampners on the mounting rail to reduce the vibration transmission, these came with the rail holder and were little grooved flat pieces of rubber that have a square hole in the middle.

Had the rail with dampners for a couple days, that was really loud and a bad fit on my tanks rim in every config. So I adapted it to a rio mount with suction cups. Much quiter, but 6"-1' no. 35' down the hall, in the next room, with no other equipment rattling from the vibration, and I can still just hear it. So even if your standard was 5'-10', it would fail miserably.
How much should the bearing wiggle in the bearing bush?
Also, are the impellers individually checked for ballance?

Thanks for the quick reply roger

The impellers are not checked, they are hand "groomed" (plastic cast pieces cut off, bottom tapered), then the pump is test run but not in an aquarium. As for the amount of wiggle I am unsure.

Can you send me a PM with your email address since you aren't set up to accept PM's or emails?
