streams causing air bubbles

I recently noticed a microbubble problem in my tank. I originally thought it was the return, but after some investigation, I shut off the return pump and am watching the streams spit out bubbles. Is this out of the ordinary?
They are placed about 8" below the water line.
Thanks.

Does it get worse as the day progresses? Is the KH high? Is the pump partially obstructed, particularly the hole in the center of the magnet and the upper bearing? Is the solid side of the screen facing up?

Mine produce bubbles as well.

Do they produce more and more bubbles the longer it's been since they've been cleaned?

It's possible, but their are many causes that are possible that is why I need more answers to be able to say what is causing this.

Hi Roger:

I'm also searching for the source of microbubbles. Where is the "hole in the center of the magnet"? Do I need pull off the propeller cover to find this? Also, even though I have the solid piece facing the water surface, I see a vortex at the surface, but no "tornado" leading down to the pump. Could I be pulling in bubbles, nonetheless?

Finally, is there a recommended minimum depth for placing 6060s to avoid vortexing issues?

Thanks, James.

If you have a surface vortex that is likely the cause, on a 6060 it should be 4+" from the surface. I explain more about the cleaning procedure in a thread at the top of this forum.
