StreetTeam: Poster Distribution

As some of you may have seen in the swap post, we've gotten the swap website up and running (www.mtrc.org/reefexpo) and I have put up the swap posters here:

I want as much help as I can get from the club with spreading the word. In practice, this means I would like each person in the club to print out a few and think of anywhere you can hang them that isn't illegal or against a stores policy.

I will take care of the LFS's and I am regularly near the West Nashville PetSmart, so I will get that one. The store finders for those chain type stores are listed below. If you live near one or a few of them please post hear and "claim" them. I don't want people duplicating effort and I don't want to hound particular places.

I'd like to see posters up at the chain stores in the next couple of weeks (to catch Christmas shoppers and get them up at least a month in advance).

If you do claim a store, please make sure you do it (and in fact I would appreciate it if you would post in this thread if when you do just so I can keep track of what ones are still in need or if people are having problems).

If you can come up with other pet stores that would be ok with posting posters, let me know and/or run some posters over there and try your luck. And if you can come up with other ideas about putting up these posters just print 'em and get 'em up (e.g., at your job, offices for your apartment, community centers, etc.). You could also post the idea here in case someone else might be able to use it.

Also a Petsmart in Franklin, Spring Hill Plus Fins. There is also some Fish store in Columbia, But i don,t remember the name. Plus EBay and a Petco on the way for me. I think all Kroger's have a bulletin board to post Events. That my 2cents for now, can do these if you like?

SRT80 - Would you be able to handle the stores in Smyrna?

poolkeeper1 - I'll handle EBay and the Critter for sure. And I would prefer that at least someone from the board talk to the other LFS that have hosted meetings (Jungle, Fins) just because they are going to know us. Since Fins and The Jungle are both almost an hour from me, I sure wouldn't mind some help with those, but I am on Thanksgiving break and although I won't be taking all of it, I might just have to take a Tour du LFS (gas is less than $2/gallon now, so I won't have to sell a coral to pay for it).

More on topic, if you can handle the places you listed otherwise, I would appreciate it. Everyone knows their own neighborhood areas, which is why having the help of you guys is so important.

I just wanted to bump this up, see if anyone has hit the places they've said, and see if we can't get a few more places checked off.

Last week I went to Fins, The Jungle, The Critter, and Ebay and took posters (little guys and bigger guys), so hopefully you'll see those up at the LFS's. I will probably drop in on Pet Palace and L&L in Clarksville on the way to the meeting up there.

Any help on getting the word out would be really appreciated. A swap isn't a lot of fun unless there's people there...

Ever consider asking members of other regional clubs to post in their LFS? Most probably wouldn't mind as it would not cut into their business. Might not get much additional activity from doing so but it doesn't cost you anything either.

Dave- I've thought about it, but I didn't really know if it would be uncouth to impose on other clubs. Obviously, you think not, so I'll have give it a whirl.

i have seen a few posts of out of town frag swaps in our forum, so if nothing else post in some other forums about it & ask if they would mind hanging up flyers too....can't hurt

alot of people travel to nashville for games, tourist stuff, etc & unless they frequent this forum, they wouldn't even know it was happening. might give somebody non-local something to plan a trip to nashville around

....just a thought

I hope that someone (erm...hmm...hmm...Brandon...cough...cough) has been posting in other local forums. I really haven't had the time to spend on RC other than quick announcements for swap stuff... but I hope folks are at least getting their avatars all over RC posting as usual anyway.

Hanging posters is a separate issue, but I guess I don't see it really being any kind of problem as long as we are willing/able to help those other clubs out by returning the favor and asking our LFS's.
