Strength of water flow?

I know clams dont like strong flow, but do they need direct current or just current enought that the tank gets good circulation and they arent stagnent.

I am looking around 20x (300gph or so) turnover in my tank.

150 watt 14K phoenix DE in an 18" deep tank.

Some shallow water species will enjoy stronger current like crocea and maxima, but the deeper water species like squamosa and gigas would probably do better in a medium flow. You can have the flow strong as long as their mantle is not flopping and retracted due to the current.

Ok, good to know, thanks!

So as long as the flow is moderate throughout the tank I should be OK.

From all my reading it seems as though light is the X factor anyway.

the steven liu thanks for posting that I was wondering what type of flow is good for croceas
Thanks
