Stringy Cyano

Not exactly sure what's going on here. I've had a bit of cyano showing up on my rocks for the past 3 weeks or so. The tank was setup about a month and a half ago, so the cyano's not a huge surprise. Anyways, I cleaned my HOB refugium yesterday, and changed out the media bags (water wasn't flowing through the media bags very well, as they were a bit clogged up with calcium). Now, the cyano's "stringing" off of the rocks. I've got these "hairs" of cyano clinging to the rocks and floating through the water. The corals seem completely unphased; all the sps have good polyp extension and don't seem to mind. Any ideas what's goin on here?

The best method I have found for dealing with cyano in a reef tank is to use FRESH WATER Maracyn. No kidding! Just drop a tablet in near where the outbreak is and let it disolve over a few hours. Very slowly over the next couple days you will see the cyano disappear. Sounds crazy but it works! If you are using a protien skimmer be sure you turn it off while treating. Repeat after a few days if not completely gone and do a partial water change after that.

BTW this is the only medication I would ever put in a reef tank.
