these SWF guys hardly have any good discreptions on tank size, tank mates and bonus reading material. they have a stripped dogface puffer for sale and was looking into that one or a normal dogface. i got a 125, good cleaning system and 4 month old tank. 3 small fish as tank mates with plent of places to hide. any information on this species would be greatly appreciated

Dogface will get pretty big, like 18" or so. And they are pretty nasty tankmates to others, can nip other fishes with they are smaller or slow. Right now we keep our dogface in the store with grouper, bird wrasse, porcupine puffer, and a larger lion fish. Other tankmates we have them with from time to time are trigger fishes, squirrel fishes, and tuskfish. All of which are similar in size with the dogface. Personally I don't like to keep them with groupers because they are way too fast. When I feed them I almost always have to overfeed alittle for the dogface to get anyfood before the grouper snatches it .

THeres NO WAY a narrowlined, striped dogface, or whatever you want to call it will get 18" in captivity under normal conditions.

we were talking about a stripped dogface these guy to me are by far a more suitable aquarium species then the regular. all research i have found in 12" in wild 6-8" in captivity and not nearly as hostile as its big brothers. They have the at SaltWaterFish for only $20 with free shippin. Cant beat that

Arothron manilensis gets to be anywhere from 10-12 inches when proper conditions are given in captivity. They will not get anywhere near 18" under any circumstances.
