Stripped burrfish, Some kinda internal parasite?

Well as i was wondering around the LFS I found a stripped burrfish, I have been looking for one one these for a bit,
It looked quite thin so i asked about it,
The employe had said they have had the fish for 3 weeks and it eats,
but will not fatten up,
I was offered this fish at 50% because of this,
now what i would like to know is do any of you have any guess's on what it actually has and or
Treatment for it, if any at all?
I would love to have this fish, but I don't want to buy a fish that i have no hopes of treating.

Even experienced aquarist stay away from fish that have an obvious/unknown problem - the cost of meds alone normally outweigh the "discount" and fish mortality will still remain high. Take pass - just my 02.

Good Point,
The only thing is this is the first time i have been able to find one.

Well I ended up getting the fish for free.
The fish was currently in a hypo-salinity treatment,
But as was the main tank,
So I VERY slowly acclimatized it.
Then placed the fish in the aquarium, (I did not remove the fish from the water)
He looked like he was doing pretty good for his position,
So i get home today and it seems like his rear end is much more buoyant than the rest of him
and when he's not swimming down word he is at the top, rear end at the surface, and head a little below
Is not eating at this time, even garlic soaked foods,
Any idea about the buoyancy?

sounds like a problem with his swimbladder, he may have an infection if so id try soaking some food in a broad spectrum antibiotic and see if that helps, but these types of infections are often hard to cure

oh sorry i see you said he isnt eating this makes it even harder, you may have to use antibiotics in the water then which means he needs to be in a treatment tank that you can do alot of water changes in because the nitrogen cycle is going to get messed up

I have read that virtually all of these fish have a particular parasite upon being collected. Try PMing Pufferpunk on this forum who is an expert on this issue and who posted this before. She is very willing to help and is considered an expert on puffers and related species.
