stronger pump or powerhead

i had bought the biocube powerhead for my 12 dx and it broke today. i called petco and they said to return it for another or refund. well, i still have the stock pump in my tank. shouald i get a new powerhead or a stronger pump? (900) or (1200) will one of these do without the powerhead cause i really dont have the room for the head in the backside to plase it. so its been on the front side wich is kind of a eyesore. but i want whatever is best. i understand the purpose of why you use both, but money is a factor and i can only get one or the other for now.

I run two pumps, connected to spins streams and no power heads in Nuvo 16. There's plenty of flow in the tank and now I can keep a Nuti or sea hair with no worries of him making it into the power head. Lost one in my main display because he saw some hair algae on the Mp10wEs lol. He was an awesome purple too.
