I was on the other end of the country, where the shooting and rocketing is going on now. Have had several emails the past week to get back asap, cant do it, things need to get taken care of at the VA.

I did get to go down to Eilat for a quick visit to the aquarium, awesome place, underwater observatory.

Now doing catch-up homework- couldnt get onto the search function here til 9 pm yesterday, stayed with it til 10:30, woke at 1am and went back to it, my eyes and head are reeling now, going to get some breakfast, and do some surfing on things I've printed out or bookmarked, I am going to see if I can get a decent buy on amazon on the copepod in aquaculture book.

I do have some limited culture area, a rack of ten 10gals, just raising bbs and tet. now there, I found my scope was damaged in its box, do still have a lot of lab glass that survived, so will be getting it together, I'm going to check out ebay later for scopes, dont need as good as what was.

Back when I was on BR Skip and I wrote back and forth on the ciliates, he sent me one of his cultures and they did well on the tomato juce feed. The next month I'll be getting stuff cleaned and working again, right now my biggest puzzlement is a working table other then my dining rm table. Decisions ! :mixed:

This section plus the archives are a treasure chest for catching up, good to see you here, lot of interesting posts, I'm looking forward to being here.

I am very interested in copepods and had to purchase that book.However I think you could save the money.There is almost nothing of practical value for the culturist in there.Save that money to get updated digital cameras,adaptors and scopes,so important for data exchange nowadays.
Since the ol´days of BR,I could sometimes raise some few damsels,blennies,gobies,reidis,shrimps and so,but never real good results.I am now more leaned to pay attention to bacterial problems,which I never did.
Regarding SW ciliates it is still controversial wether they are useful or not.This hobby is anything but boring!:lol:

My library needs restocking, I let a lot of good ones go when I went back to Israel, I was pricing scopes today on ebay, looks doable, found several decent buys on dissecting scopes,

I've got a new olympus digital, lot of bells and whistles, plus tripod, need to get some lights for tank work, and then we'll see. Should save a ton of money on film and processing.

We came along similar paths, my emphasis is lower stocking rates and more water changes,

I'm doing more homework on the pods, appears thats a necessity, Skip thinks the ciliates are a good possibility as they are such a large part of most/many planton takes.

My own feeling right now is that the best results are going to be with a combo stew, depending on the species cultured. And everything in the stew gut loaded. Which is going to mean watching the water quality even closer.
