Stupid question about lighting...

I would have said '1st Law of thermaldynamics' as well, but then people start posting that Im full of myself or something. So I stick to the basics.

well are you full of yourself? I know i am. this is a myth that has survived for decades. I first encountered it (and believed it) in the late 80's when I started reefing. back then the "Berlin method" was controversial
 
Lol, okay. Thats about when I got into saltwater as well. For you and I, we know where the experience comes from. But when you try to relate some of what you have seen over the years to the new cats, they start asking for degrees, references, or otherwise start to think that you are trying to make yourself look smart. Well, I hope I would know something after 20 years!

Im not full of myself, I just appreciate when the general attitude is to learn something and advance the hobby... not just keep doing the same thing over and over again... you know what I mean.

Its funny to me how some people are 'ressurecting' old ideas like bio-balls, wet-drys, etc... claiming that they help the Live Rock by offloading some of the nitrate conversion. I try to tell them that there is a reason why wet-dry's were left at the curb in the 90's... but then they dont want to listen because they think they have discovered something new...lol.

outstanding! I just picked up a 125 with a very nice w/d filter that is looking for new home... I will let it go cheep! who wants it?

did you ever visit the usnet alt.reef.aquaria back in the 90's?
