Stupid question

I've noticed in several post where a clay pot on it's side has been inserted into tank bottom for clowns. Is clay safe in reef and or fish systems?

The clay pot or tile is an ideal surface for the clowns to lay their eggs. Clay is safe for the aquarium as long as its clean.

Thanks IslandFever, I knew that it is a good surface for egg laying, but I some how thought that clay had traces of lead. Anyway, I wanted to add one so that the clowns would get accustomed to it. Thanks again.

Never heard of the led in the pots. But since I use them I am gonna look it up. But I doubt it cause it's prolly cheap man made clay and not from the ground.

If I'm not mistaken, the lead contamination is only a potential in glazed pots, not the terra cotta pots you see in tanks.
