Stupid red bugs

Does anyone have any interceptor I can buy or trade for. I finally noticed some red bugs on my acro's. I had a feeling I might have them because a couple of small colonies were looking bad and last night I finally saw them.

Anyway, I went to my local vet and thought I would tell him the truth about what I wanted it for and he said that he needs to check with the company that makes interceptor before he will write me a prescription and sell it to me. I guess honesty is overated

Also, anyone know how to catch shrimp, I've got a cleaner and a few peppermints that need to be moved to my other tank and I can't seem to catch them with a net. Any suggestions......

I got mine at Petmeds.com. No presciption. I also got 1 pill left to spare if you need it. Should be enough for the 3 treatments.

How did the interceptor treatment work? Did you get rid of all your red bugs?

Were you able to catch your shrimp?

I did the first one on Friday and then did a water change on Saturday mornig before I left to Denver. The shrimp didn't make it unfortunately, I just couldn't catch him. At least one emerald crab made it and one peppermint maybe more. The bad part is, I have 2 more treatments to go.

The good news is, I don't see any more red bugs at all, but I am still going to do the next 2 treatments anyway just to be sure they are all gone. I've already got good PE on my acros again and hopefully they will begin to color up to where they should be real soon.

My GF's tank had flatworms. I used Saliferts flatworm exit. It killed most of the flatworms. The water turned so yellow and killed ALOT of stuff. I have only seen one fish since we dosed. She loved that purplefirefish. I hope it comes out. I think I will try dosing once or twice more. Now that the majority is out. Joe did your skimmer go nuts after you dosed??

Actually, it was just the opposite. 12 hours after dosing I did a water change and added 3 times the usuall carbon. It took 3 days before the skimmer started really pulling anything again.

I've never had an issue with flatworm exit. I've used it twice in the past and nothing bad has happened. I am dosing Interceptor right now, so it is a little scarrier then flatworm exit, but anytime I put any kind of poison in my tank I worry.

Two seperate infestations. Flat worms are highly toxic to the tank when they die. Its recommended that you try and syphon out as many as possible before treatment and then as they start to die you run a boat load of carbon to suck up the toxic juices the flat worms exude when they die. Also dose at 2 - 3x the recommended dose to get as flat worms as possible. Also be prepaired for the tank to have a nutrent bloom. I finally got tired of the flat worms in one of my mantis tanks so I used the Flat Worm Exit, and a tank that was pristine before hand became the front line in my algae battle.

SWEET. More to battle. I tried three wrasses that had a reputation of eatting flatworms. The first two died from starving. Looked pretty bad whenI got them. The third didn't seem to care about them. I am going to keep trying the natural way. I still have not seen any fish. The corals look like crap. I think there were way much flatworms in there. Sorry for hijacking Joe.

No problem Dan, that's what this thread is about, stupid infestations that make our live miserable.

I forgot to mention what Thurge said about algae after I dosed. Be prepared to get a cyano bloom, that's what I experienced in the past after exiting flatworms.
