Substrate requirements for nassarius snails

Do nassarius snails do well in sand >2mm or even crushed coral substrate? Also I plan on a SSB, so how deep in required for these snails?

I have pretty fine grain sand in my tank, but when I added some gravel/crushed substrate from an established tank to get some critters going I started to notice my nassarius snails have a harder time burying themselves.

I'd highly suggest you at least have some sort of finer substrate mixed in for em
