Such difficulty finding Mantis Shrimp rant!

I never got a response to my email to AZ gardens. Looks to be in tucson or near there so it's not so close that I can just pop over for a visit.

Can't beat the price for it shipped as well. AZ's O. scy. would run be about $100. Sealife's around 60-80 for their Osterdeii...hmmm.

I've had a viridis for about 3 weeks now and it never comes out from under its barnacle rock. It's the only inhabitant, besides a few tiny hermits, but am discouraged how shy it is. Perhaps it's still settling in.

I understand that in many cases, it depends on the individual stom. but all in all are the wen's quite interactive and scurry around more? I have another system up and running and want another but am still undecided on the 3 species I could get now. Wen, oster or scyl's.

Pretty much the same deal with my Viridis lately. Since I moved him to his new tank he has been really reclusive. Made a new burrow in the back of the tank and the only time I see him is when he darts out to get food off a feeding stick. He is somewhat active though cause a few LPS frags that weren't glued down were dragged into his burrow. Just must be active when I'm not there.

I'd go Wenn. Everyone on here seems to love their N. Wennerae's. I'm thinking about setting up another small tank for one of them in a few months. Cant resist

Some people have had success getting their stomatopods more interactive by adding a fish or two. Try adding a damsel or two -- can't hurt.

I'm going to try too. Already got a post on my local reef club for any unwanted damsels or chromis

Thanks. Just found a local member with 2 green chromis he doesnt want. Hopefully I can get them Saturday and start this test.

Damn people on bluezoo stealing my mantid's before I even get the email! I got another tern in stock email and of course its gone already.

Never any smithii's though. Are they a seasonal thing?

Dunno but the smithhii they had in that I stole last week turned out to be something else. They called me when they grabbed it for packing and noticed it lacked a purple spot and realized they had misidentified it.

Edit: Actually, that may have been whatever they recently sent out the "in stock" email for. I declined the mantis they originally thought was a smithii so it makes sense they'd correctly identify it and put if back on the site.
