I put 2 new Silenx fans in my aq24 today. They are the 18 cfm, 16 db types. They are really quiet but my temp didn't seem to go down any. I mounted one sucking air in and one blowing out. Should I change them both to blowing out?
no change them so they run across the top of the water, its called evaporative cooling. you'll have to top off a little more often but it beats buying a chiller.
FWIW, i'd keep them as they are. As a computer geek, I can tell you that electrical components will stay considerably cooler with fans set up to pull air across them like yours are. Should keep your lights running several degrees cooler.
