Sudden loss of polyp extension on half of tank

Anybody have experience with this?

One half of the tank all the polyp extension is great no problems but on the other half i have a couple acros and a couple millies that are fully retracted and on my pink lemonade i see a couple white spots that ive never seen before today.

Its a 100g tank running 2 x 250w Radiums

Parameters are
CA 410
Alk 9.6
MG 1350
Po4 0.0

I run bio-pellets, carbon and rowa-phos via reactors

Its a freshly upgraded tank about 2 months old so im using same rocks but with new sand. I use BRS 2 part dosed daily via dosing pumps slowly throughout the day.

I checked the bulb on the right side for cracks or anything but it looks fine, both bulbs are 2 months old so im kinda confused atm as to what may be the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a hippo tang, sailfin tang, melinarus wrase, mandarin goby, watchman goby, 2 black/white occ clowns and a cleaner goby.

Theyve been pulled in for a full day so far.

I also noticed that my PH was at 8.4 which is a bit higher than normal, usually it sits pinned at 8.3 so i pulled my dosing pumps offline. But im not sure that that was the problem since the millies and acros on left side of tank look like nothings wrong.

Also i do have redbug on a couple of the acros on that side but i dont see em on the millies that are pulled in. I have a shipment of Interceptor in the mail on its way to me so ill be doing this as soon as it arrives. However looking at the millie and the pink lemonade i cant see any red bugs as i can on the others. For the record the acros that have had red bug for 4+ months but never have any of my other corals been effected besides the 2 that have it.

While waiting for the intercepter I would rule out everything else especially change in water quality wether the norm or orp, possibly change out all my media. I mean as along as the colors are good then maybe the coral are having a bad day. Stn is a difficult issue though once it sets in. considering u did a transfer from one tank to another, u might have had a minicycle occur.

Baste your millis. The same dangerous practices that spread red bugs also spread accro eating flat worms. Hit your millis with a tukey baster and see if any flat worms float off of the corals. AEFW sometimes take a lil longer to take hold but its not unusual to see AEFW show up in a tank with red bugs. Once again if you did somethng to pick up red bugs you may have also picked the flat worms from that or a diffrent sourse.

Well i just got done turkey basting the corals, i definately didnt see any flatworms being blown off, however i am noticing redbugs on the millie now.

Every coral has white spots about the size of the blunt end of a pin/needle, so that leads me to think it could be AEFW but i cant see em at all so i cant be for sure.

when was the last time u did a W.C. and checked your salinity. Something seems to be off especially if its half of your tank not showing polyps.

Last water change was 10 days ago and I checked my salinity with a refractometer the first night I noticed the spots since I dose 2 part and I was worried about that and it was at 1.025.

I did take my dosers offline that night cause my ph was at 8.41 which was the highest I've ever seen it. After a day of not running 2 part my Alk was 8.9 ca at 400. I've been slowly ramping up the dosage to try and get my Alk to 10 and ca at 450. But this would take me a week or so to get to this point.

Basically I found that I need around 75 ml a day of each and I had it dosing 85 ml of each to slowly bring it from ~8.4 to 10.

As of last night I put my dosers back online but lowered the dosage back down to 75 ml

I was checking the corals last night and after the lights had been off for about 3 hours the PE looked like they did durring the day normally but now that my lights are back on there pretty receded again. The Millie's on the other side had huge PE last night as they normally do after the lights have been off for a few hours.

I'm just really hoping its just redbug but the white dots have me a bit concerned.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!

So as i stated above now the millies on the left side of my tank have had major polyp recession as well as the right side. So this morning the lights turn on, polyp extension is good, i go in the garage to grab a water, come back and all the polyps on my big blue millie colony are receded....

After sitting there for about 2 more minutes i watch my bi-color blenny come up and scrape tissue off the colony like its algae on the back wall....i couldnt belive my eyes, guess i shoulda done more research before purchasing this fish.

Anyways at least catching him was easy my wife had a genious idea to take some of my 3/4" clear tubing and wait for him to go into his favorite hole in the rock and put the tubing over the end and siphon him out. Worked like a charm!

Feels like a huge weight has been lifted, ive been do worried about it for days now researching AEFW, taking my corals out and dipping em only to find nothing...hopefuly this ends my delima.

Had the same thing happen. Jaw dropped to the floor as I watched that bas*#rd strip the flesh off a beautiful acro colony. Bi color blenny BAD!

Post some pics so we can see the coral and get a better idea what is going on and give feed back. Hope all turns around for you! Chef

I had a BC blenny that I gave away a couple weeks ago. def not reef safe. ate an acan and I had no PE till he was gone.

First thing I was going to say was clown gobies or bi color blenny, but you did not list either in your fish list.
