Here is a great link I saw about using pvc pipes to aquascape, I think something like this would look great in your tank. Good luck!

Hmmm. I like this idea. I am gonna try to keep the rock off of the rear of the glass. This may just help me accomplish that. I am anal about rocks and any build up on the rear of my glass. Plus if you notice, the left side of my tank is a see through. The tanks is really not supposed to be in a corner. It is supposed to be in the center of a room so you can walk around both sides.

My thoughts with the suggestions of others is to make 1 island on each side then make a bridge that connects the 2 in the center.

Has anyone ever tried to drill live rock? If so what bit works best? Regular or a mason bit?

that last link I posted, someone in there has a few pics of the rock being placed on the pvc and he says "I found a diamond bit 1 3/8" hole saw that I am using to just poke a hole through the rock instead of attaching it with plastic wire ties. Here is some of the progress I got done tonight."

Hope that helps :)

GRRRR. Got my order in from BRS today. 60lbs of Fiji Pukani Rock.
The guys who packaged it put all of the rock in one big bag and threw it in a small box of peanuts. Well, look at the pic below. You can almost break this rock with your hands. Thats how pourous it is. One quick email to Andrew showing him what was in the box led to an email from him saying "60 more pounds of rock just shipped to you" The packaging guys were supposed to ship in multiple boxes. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Now that's service.

Beautiful rock though!

WOW, looks like a box of crumbs. what is the largest piece?

There are some really nice pieces. I don't think it required them to send an entire order of the 60 lbs, but I am not going to refuse it.

Are you going to make it by today?

Hmmm. No comments? It must not look too good.

Have you looked into doing foaming to combine those rubles?? There's a thread some where about doing egg crate to form your base and structure and using zip ties and foam for building purposes. James built one by doing so in the 29g tank I got from him, it looks awesome! Maybe someone knows that thread cause people were talking about it for awhile in here.

You know if you do what I just mentioned, you can build a pretty kewl bridge across and some sort of formation on both sides. :D

The problem is my tank has very small cutouts for the openings in the top of the tank. The largest opening is about 4x8 inches. I received a really nice rock the other day and I had to split it in half with a hammer and a chisel just to get it in my tank.

That poses a problem! But you can always make smaller formations to combine within once you get all the pieces into your tank. It's really nothing to try to cover up zip ties with some smaller pieces of rocks. Let me see if I can get James to send you that link of his tank build!

You know teh critter might babysit the ray for you. go down there and talk to Chris.

I called them today and they said they do not do that anymore or take fish for store credit. I put him on craigslist today. I have to get rid it. It is eating my fish and making a big sand mess. I tried to return it the second day I bougth from my LFS here and she pretty much said sorry, you are SOL. Live and learn I guess.
