Suggestions for a LG Reef SHOW fish

well a Vlamingi Tang are great for large reef tanks, also a mata tang or Acanthurus mata are superb tangs but hard to find.

here are a few suggestion:

Orange Shoulder Tang
Desjardini Tang R.S.

Rosy Scales Fairy Wrasse
Exquisite Fairy Wrasse
Laboutei Fairy Wrasse
Hawaiian Flame Wrasse

I would not get any of the smaller wrasses with the eel in there. Wrases like to hide in many of the same spots your eel does and they would make a nice little expensive treat for him.

Lunar Wrasse, Thalassoma lunare. Active, gorgeous fish. Keep well fed & should be Reef Safe ( as far as the term has any REAL meaning IMO).

Matthew
I own a juvi who will need a bigger tank eventually

Was just atthe LFS at lunch and they had a 8-9"+ Folweri Tang for $198...I'm really considering him. Looked real nice.

I'm just a little worried that I can't find much info on these guys. Right now it's between the Folweri, a Clown, and a Sohal Tang as my 1 large fish.

Just can't decide.

The fowleri is a very nice choice. My LPS has a 1000 gallon tank Packed with tangs. They have the fowleri in there and it has some great color to it.

Dont get a clown or sohal. You'll regret it- almost guaranteed. A fowleri is gonna likely eventually outgrow even your 240. They get big and are active, but they do get beautiful. I still suggest a Nice male hardwicke, klunzinger, or lunar wrasse as mentioned.

I've never really researched wrasse but I just looked into what you mentioned and they too are a nice choice. I like Kluzinger Wrasse

Do you have a good site for more info on these??

I would definitely not get a Fowleri, vlamingii, sohal or clown tang. I don't think you have the space for any of these when they are full grown.

I think a red breasted maori wrasse (Cheilinus fasciatus) would be awesome. Might eat the damsels, but you run that risk with any large wrasse.

I agree. I have a 625g and could put these fish in but don't. My reason, I like more smaller fish and a few med/large fish rather than one or two huge fish that would probably frag my stonies on a daily basis. Just my .02
