Suggestions for Fish in a 55-Gallon Tank

I have now taken the same path that most other reef hobbyists have, and I have upgraded my 14g biocube to a 55 gallon corner overflow-box tank. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any particular fish I should put in the tank. I have once larger clownfish in the old tank, that I will move to the new one as soon as it has completed cycling fully. I could also give the clownfish to my lfs to get a smaller one. Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for a must-have fish? I haven't kept many colorful or exciting fishes before (because the 14g was not the most stable for many reasons) but I would like to fit many in the new tank. The tank will also have corals and invertebrates so any fish will need to be compatible with a reef-tank setup.

That isn't a bad idea. I'm thinking of adding somewhere around 5 fish, but also having a lot of coral. Another question I had was about supplements for coral. I've seen companies that advertise necessary supplements such as Iodine, Iron, etc that make corals much healthier, but actually how necessary are these?

Assuming you do regular water changes, the "new" water will provide everything you need in my opinion. I do, however, feed my LPS corals once a week even though not strictly necessary.

A must have fish for a 55g would be a royal gramma. Ive always had at least one in every tank Ive owned.

That is definitely one I'll have to get. I have looked through corals, fish, and inverts on countless websites but I'm wondering if anyone has any particular favorites.

I have a 57g tank and my favorites in there are probably my clown pair, gold assesor basslet pair, sunburst anthia and suzukii anthia. I know that is a lot of favorites by I like a lot of my fish.

A couple favorites in my 55 was Kauderni cardinal pair and yellow watchman goby paired up with a tiger pistol shrimp.

I would always have to have some sort of dwarf angel in every tank i have :) . My favorite are the multibar angels and the purple mask angel(venustus angel), which are kinda difficult to care for, as well as the cherub angel. If the tank was mine i would go with the goby/pistol pair, a pair of clowns, 1 dwarf angel and possibly a trio of firefish. That will give you all sorts of entertainment with fish in all different places to look at :) . good luck

blue and gold Assessors have always been a favorite of mine, small, beautiful, and pretty hardy. My pair of B/W Mis-barred clownfish are fun to look at in my 12 gallon nanocube. :)
