Suggestions for windowscreen/window covering?

The new tank that I am setting up is near a window, and about half of the day, some sunlight would be hitting the tank. I do have the option to close the blinds, but was curious if there was some type of screen that you could put on the window that would block out the harmful/algae growing light, but still allow you to see out of the window for a view. I could close my blinds, but I like to look out of that window during the day when I am at the computer. Any thoughts?

Kinda like tinting the windows in a car. Home Depot should be able to help you out.

Sunlight will not cause algae to grow. One of my tanks gets a couple hours of sunlight per day in the spring and fall. Only effect is the corals really expand in the sunlight.

However heat can be an issue. If there is a heat problem the window tint should help.

I don't understand. Aren't the PC's, VHO's, metal halides a reproduction of sunlight? You probably don't have enough nutrients in your tank for the sunlight to even matter when it comes down to algae growth.

Yeah, my tank is right next to a bay window and gets plenty of natural sunlight. Ive never had an algae issue. Keep your nutrients down and you shouldnt have any algae problems.
