Suggestions on adding another wrasse

Currently I have a Lunar Wrasse….what other type would a good addition, that’s under $100?

I'm thinking about either a McCosker or Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse. Would either be compatiable with the Lunar Wrasse?

Could be wrong but aren't they a lot more timmid than a lunar wrasse. You may have trouble with them hiding and not wanting to come out...?

I think in a 75 you would be asking for trouble to add any wrasse with a Lunare....Lunare are amonst the most aggressive wrasses there are, putting another in with him in a small tank would not likely work out.

If not another wrasse what else? I going to get 2 clownfish and already have a yellow tang? What other fish would go best in your opioin?

six line, scotts, exqusite, mystery, these guys are bullys in their own regaurds aside from the exqusite. i think that these guys could hold their own against a fish like a lunar. never seen this though just a hunch. but i feel that alomst any wrasse would have a bad life with this tankmate. but imo i think that the ones that fight back would be the best bet. but know that if you add something like a six line you may not be able at all to add another wrasse after that.

I think you are a bit confused on your Wrasse classification here. The Wrasses you mention are small reef friendly wrasses, the Lunare is large invertebrate killing bully. None of the fish you listed could even remotely hang with a Lunare.:rolleye1:

Mark, you might look at a single Maroon Clown.

Had a friend that had a lunar. Beautiful but a very mean and aggressive fish. Definitely not reef safe. Think it ate all his inverts. He did also have a 6 line in there that survived. Never saw it do anything to the 6 line but have seen it attack other fish.

You forgot "eyeball remover" :eek2: I've seen it on multiple occasions.

Just so we are all clear on ID. Thalassoma lunare

And just in case, these are sometimes called the same name. Thalassoma lutescens. About the same, attitude wise.

Well as you know I have a Lunar Wrasse and a Yellow Tang. Considering getting a Flame Angel, Maroon Clown and a Puffer (Dog Face, Pork or a Toby). How would that work out?

They are nasty fish - especially as they grow. The are like torpedoes that come out of nowhere and knock the crap out of another fish. I wouldn't keep one in a tank unless with the toughest of tough fish... and in a larger tank than a 75G. ...and they do grow fast too.
