Summer Vacations

Well the season for vacations is almost upon us. I will be leaving for a week in July but want to start planning early. Does anyone have any tips for leaving an aquarium behind? I know my topoff situation will have to be modified. As it sits now mine can go 2.5 days. Is there anyone that runs a service that could check on a tank a couple of times during weeks of vacations? Having invested so much time and money I almost feel like sending the wife and kid off to the beach alone. That would mean though the end of my reefing career once the wife got back......

So any tips and pointers would be great.

You know what, I think this is something for all the members to think about!!! Why don't we start some sort of vacation pals where if someone goes on vacation, the other member would help with his/or her tank maintenance, then vise versa. I think it would be great to do!!! :) At least you get someone who knows what they're doing. :D

We talked about having a sighnup sheet for people that wanted to help while people are out of town a while back. It is a great idea but just never came to fruition for some reason when we talked about it last time.
FWIW I have so many pets that I typically get my sister to housesit. If you know a younger adult that likes having a place all to themselves housesitting usually doesn't cost too much. Not everyone knows someone though.

I know exactly what you mean Chris!! I had a friend that took care of my pets while on vacation before, but she's not able to do it anymore since she moved further away. Since I have 6 tanks, a parrot and a large dog. I need someone to take care of'em IF I go on vacation. Good thing we found the owner for that lost dog that I picked up last week, otherwise we would of kept it. Another mouth to feed.....
