Sump and Overflow question

I am setting up my 75 Gal with a 30Gal sump under the stand. The tank is about 30" long and 12" wide. I have room in the stand for about 15" of width. My plan is to have 3 sections in my sump - first the ASM G3 then the mag 9 return pump and a final section for a refug. The questions are:

I have designed a CALFO overflow that is 24" long and hangs on the back wall of the tank, it will have 2 exit holes that run to the sump and return wioth a Mag 9. What size should the holes be?

Should I modify the skimmer to accept one of the overflows directly and change the pump to be a recirculator?

with the limited space in a 30 for the ASM it takes up a lot of room, which will cut into the refuge area - should I add a 3" section to the back of the tank to expand the refuge area? This would in essence become like a HOB refuge that would overflow into the sump return area.

Thanks for the help

Jer, I'm a firm believer that any overflow drain line should be a minimum of one inch. So with that said, I would put two, one inch holes in your overflow design. Draining one of these directly to your skimmer is a great idea if you don't mind doing the recirc mod to your G3, and the other drain to your refugium. I also try to keep things simple, so I would stay with the small fuge in your sump.
