SO I thought I would put the early beginnings of my tank on here..
Today I drilled the bulkhead holes and adhered the first pieces of glass together tomorrow I'll adhere the second side to the base
The sump is going to be 24"x12"x12" (I know kinda shallow but so is the Dt)
I am using 1/4" plate glass ...silicone rtv-108

Let me know if you need help with anything Eric. I have tons of woodworking tools as well as others. Plus I don't mind learning while I help.

Are you a woodworker? I used to do a bit with my in-laws workshop, but haven't for years. Looking to start it up again and need to buy everything. DIY speakers (and eventually furniture) calls!

(Sorry for the thread hijack)

Yeah I got 2 pocket hole jigs Eric. I got a portable table saw, miter saw, every type of drill, routers, compressor and nail guns too if we need them. Let me know when you want me to stop by so we can work on the new tank.

I am by no means a carpenter but I love attempting to DIY things. It is a hobby for me.

Awesome one less thing I need to buy.!!.I just want to keep the stand simple by framing it with 2x4s and just finding a 1/4" nice laminate/veneer or skin to dress it up thus taking up less working space underneath..I finished doing all the sides (sump)..I hope it holds water since I do see some small air bubbles on the sides..Leonard you don't remember that massive hunk of metal in front of the 150?
I have that huge table saw/sander/press/lathe ,miter saw, and router (though I dont have many bits yet, I think flush trim, roundover, straight cut and some plastic working bits)
Ill hit you up!!

Oh yeah I remember all that stuff. There was so much stuff that I couldn't concentrate and single anything out haha. I have some chamfer and roman ogee bits if you like that style. This is going to be fun and a lot better than any stand you can buy at the store.

Hey Eric, where did you order the glass? Wondering if I can pick yours and Leonards heads for ideas for a possibly new bigger tank. thanks

ooooooooo i want a starfire 200 or more some day. its on my wish list right after i buy a house

He got it from Glasscages. Go to their site they have pretty good deals on starphire. The price also depends on if you just want the front or 3 sides in starphire. They have the best prices I have seen on rimless tanks too. My next tank will be rimless, they look amazing.

YES lacosta28 is right went through glasscages..didnt do starfire as you can tell from the photos..but they do have good pricing..
