I am getting a 24g NANO and was wondering how you all plumbed your sumps to your NANO?
Did you drill the back or bottom of the NANO?

I was wondering how to attach a sump as well.
I was figuring on cutting a chunk out of the back of the hood by chamber 1 and having the return dump in to chamber 2.

I like wise was thinking of cutting the back and using a small bulkhead along with some other peices of PVC.

Has anyone done this? Got pics? How is the flow?

I am thinking about setting up a nano as cheeply as I can. An overflow would be nice, but would it be a major problem if I just set up a PVC to siphon water into a sump. How come people don't seem to do it that way?

I drilled the bottom of my JBJ 12 gallon with a diamond coverd glass cutter it cost me around 90 bucks. I took my time, with a hose running over the spot where I drilled it took me 20 mintues to drill through.

if you use a siphon, you run the risk of either draining your tank, or overflowing it.

If the power goes out, your siphon will continue to pull water out until the siphon breaks. When the power comes back on, the pump starts pumping water back into the display, but siphons arent meant to start back up automatically. You end up overflowing your tank.

Audisteve, you can buy diamond tipped hole saws on ebay for about $20 including shipping. A guy from china sells em for real cheap. Shipping takes a week or 2 though.

Siphoning is bad. I recommend cutting or drilling a section for some sort of overflow. That way you can just run a return on one pump and adjust the output to match the overflow.
