Sump Conversion kit (9011)

Hi,

I am wondering if the use of this kit affects the performance of this skimmer in anyway. For example, the water is pumped into the skimmer's inner chamber. In this situation, would there be a case where bubbles (or some of them) may collapse due to using a long pipe. Sorry if this is a daft question. The installation instructions do not seem to be clear.

All the stand pipe does is dam up the water inside the skimmer to the marked water level, so it does not change the operation. It just keeps the water level at the marked line, even if the outside water level is below the marked line. If the pipe is not used the external water level must be at the marked line.

I've found use of the standpipe results in better performance. YMMV
