Wht type/brand sump should i get for a 110 tall tank? Tank will be populated with various corals and fish. Space in the stand is limited to 25" tall. I need a sump that will have the super skimmer 220 and possible a CA reactor and the return pump. (what type of pump ? I am not sure of that either. probably an ehiem. What is your recomendation?

Thank you,

Always good to get the biggest sump that will allow you to still work inside it. If your 110 is 2 ft deep (front to back) a 30 breeder would probably work well and give you room to work. Cut some acrylic baffles and silicone them in and you'll be good to go. This will be far less expensive than a pre-fab sump and allow you to configure it how you want.

Can't go wrong with an Eheim pump. I have an Eheim 1260 that moves a fair amount of water and is very quiet.

I agree with beatle. If you want a cheaper and also quiet pump (not as bullet proof as eheim) you could look at the mag drives.

Thank you Beattle and Skimmer for your answers. Sounds like Eheim is the way to go. Since I am not too familiar with sump building, is there any DIY kits available? Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by a 30 breeder?

They are a type of regular fish tank that is 36"L x 12"H x 18"D

I use a 40gallon breeder tank for my sump. Same thing accpet its 15"H

They also make a 50G breeder that is 18"H

Go to melevsreef.com and you will see many different sump designs. I used his design to do mine. I started with a glass 50 gallon and made acrylic baffles and placed them with silicon. Works great! The only thing I wish I did different is my return section is a little too small. Make that as big as you can. That is where you get all your evaporation. If it is too small, you will be filling it with top off water too much.
