Sump design for 135

Ok well going to design a sump and wanted to get some opinions.
Will be running a external reeflo dart pump rated 3200 gph but I figure I would be using about 2600 gph. The skimmer is a recirculating skimmer. I would want use 1 pump for chiller, uv, reactors, skimmer , and return line.

what should be the turn over rate on the fuge? That's why I liked #2 design because it will have about 800 gallon an hour flow.

how about making a side bypass channel with a adjustable gate like a flood gate system to bypass the water pass the fuge or limit the amount going in to it

Looks ok.

Im not a fan of either external skimmers ( unless out in garage), or socks.

Skimmer for obvious reasons, socks because they are too much work. Just IMHO.

That's why last drawing no socks. Just filter floss trays. 2 of them. The skimmer I like recirculating skimmers and most seem to be external. The tank came with a reef octopus rated for 300 gallon tank so planning on keeping it till it dies because it's doing a kick a$& job so far.

Why not make the sump big enough to incorporate the skimmer inside of it. This way you will be covered if it overflows.

Also if it were me I'd do just one filter floss tray. Less work, I'm lazy. And it seems like you waste space the current design.

I agree.

Reason for the 2nd tray is to keep the fuge clean. Now for skimmer going inside sump that would be great but I only can for a 42" sump understand because of the center bracing of the stand.

Bubble traps, large distance between baffles, and keeping the distance between drains and return pumps help too bring down amount of microbubbles. And as others said. Filter floss will help too or socks.

Jon, swing by and see mine, might give you some ideas of what to do or not to do
