I am building a sump for my nano and am looking at layout options.
Sump is a 20 high. I am planning to use a DIY recirculation skimmer like this one.
The skimmer is fed from the tank overflow and not a pump so the question is...do I really need a seperate compartment for the skimmer and the refugium? I am just not seeing it. Using this style of skimmer, the pods and things would not get skimmed out. This is the only reason for having a seperate section for each, other than keeping cheato out of the skimmer supply pump which I do not have?
If I only have two compartments then I can have a bigger fuge and a bigger return section.
Am I missing something or what?
