Sump Design

Hi everyone,

I currently have a 30 gallon long (36x12x16) that I will be moving back to my home town. I figured now was a good time for a minor upgrade (36x18x18) and to try my hand at having a sump for the first time.

The stand I have limits the sump space to 22"x15", so I designed a sump that fit 21"x14" just to make sure it fits in. I have a deltec mce600 skimmer that needs to fit in the sump. I am planning on using an oceanrunner 2500 for the return, and I hope to have a small refugium.

I am going to attach a picture of the sump I designed in google sketchup. If anyone with more (read some) sump experience noticed anything that isn't going to work, please let me know. I would love anyone and everyone's input.

Thank you.

Adam

I'm no expert...But....

With a skimmer >> fuge >> return style sump your skimmer section can't be shorter than the fuge. Those two sections would maintain a 12" level as you have it drawn. That 1st baffle would be under water.

I see that could be a problem. I wish I had more room to work with.

I have a Tunze Osmolator as my ATO. Should that be accurate enough not to worry?
