Sump ideas PLEASE

I currently have a 180 DT plumbed into the basement with another 180 that I cut the overflows down to 18" so that makes it a 120, divided in half for skimmer/liverock and refug section. Both sections drain via the overflows into a 55 set up with baffles and an external pump.

Its not working well. The 18" is just to deep and way to much crap is setting on the bottom and being missed by the skimmer that runs in 8" of water

I would really like to get everything into one tank or maybe 2 different tanks side by side. Could I do a sump and refug that each fed directly to the return pump? My pump is a reeflo hammerhead thats going to be scaled back to a barracuda in a couple of days. I know its way to big, but it was a rookie mistake and a great price :(

There is a guy locally that has some 8'x16"x16" acrylic tanks that have 3 sections divided with flow between them. I figure I could cut out the dividers and make my own.

What I am interested in is pictures of your setups and any suggestions. I've been running this setup for about a year and I don't like it.

Something else I would like to do is feed my gfo and carbon reactors off the return pump. I tried to plumb it but when I turned off my main pump to feed (I have always done this), air would get into the reactors and puke out carbon. I had to go back to a maxijet feed. I have seen some do the manifold but I don't understand the exact concept when its in words. I understand pictures way better.

Thanks for any advise, suggestions and especially PICTURES.

Julie
