sump leaking

Yes you read it correctly. I was adding water before bed and when I picked up my milk jugs there was water under them and I followed it to the sump. It looks like the water is coming up between the glass and the frame.
Any suggestions? !
I figure my only option is replacing the leaking sump because it is a seam that is leaking. Now what to do .......

And once you see how well the plastic tub works you might just keep it. I've been using them for 7 years.

I looked this morining and I don't see any new water but I still worry that it is a ticking time bomb. I figured a temporary solution would be plastic tub and then new one.

Harry: Do you use a simple rubbermaid tub/sterlite from
Walmart or one from a feed store that is heavier?

Mike~ I've got an extra one about 40g if you want to borrow it till you find one you like... :) Or you can get the same exact one I have at Lowes... I think its only about $20... Makes an awesome sump... Feel free to stop by... Just give me a holler to make sure I'm home... I'll be gone tonight... Going to the UT vs. Bama game... WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!

Plain 'ole Rubbermaid/Sterlite tub from Wally World. Works just fine. What you might want to do is put a sheet of what Hobby Lobby/WalMart calls "funky foam" in the bottom to keep the vibrating pumps from rubbing a hole in the bottom. I always say I'm gonna do that but I haven't yet.

Well I am home and don't see a leak or standing water anywhere right now. I hate the idea of changing everything out but that is the lesser of 2 evils. I have a spare 50/55 that I can use if necessary. Thanks for the suggestions.

Are you sure the water wasn't coming from somewhere else? They don't usually just stop leaking on their own.

Yeah I know that they usually don't stop leaking. It is usually a one way dead end street with this subject. I cleaned up all of the water last night on the stand's floor and there was water between the glass and the bottom trim of the sump. This is what made me believe that the sump was leaking. But tonight there isn't any additional water lying around. I wonder if I spilled some and it ran down the glass face into the trim and slowly leaked out.
This would make me feel pretty stupid but I guess I would rather be stupid this time than correct.
If I see any additional water then I will break the sump down.

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, just keep an eye on it. I get water under my sump often, and since it can't evaporate, it stays there awhile. I originally thought I had a leak too, but later found it was caused by excessive splashing. Then again, I built my own sump and it sits flush against the stand floor, so even a small amount of water looks worse than it is.

Just a note of caution on the tub solution. If you are going to use a tub that has little feet, place Styrofoam under it. The little plastic feet will eventually crack if you don't. I learned that the hard way.

Thanks Dave and Art. I still don't have any additional water so I must have spilled some earlier and it simply worked itself out. At least I am going to keep telling myself that.
